Auto Repair Shop Industry Specific Features

Integrated Returns, Core and Warranty Management

A typical automotive repair shop is constantly returning parts. Whether it be a wrong part that was ordered, core return, warranty, or inventory clean up. It doesn't matter because Protractor automatically flags the item for return. The returned goods features of the software completely manages items to be returned and is completely integrated to the work order system, inventory and accounting.

  • When you remove an item that was received on a work order, the system prompts you wanting to know if it is being sent back for credit.
  • When you receive an item with a core, the core is flagged to be sent back for credit by default.
  • When you process a warranty for parts or labor on the work order, the item or labor claim is automatically flagged for return or credit.
  • When you clean up inventory and decide to return items they get flagged for return to the supplier.

When you process items to be return it follows the paper trail:

  • Each supplier has their own return bin in the software with items waiting to be picked up.
  • When you process the items that are picked up, they are moved as a group to a pending credit slip.
  • Once the credit slip has been received, the credit is posted to the accounting system.

How much do you lose by not managing your returns? Ever send back a complete water pump, alternator or starter and only receive credit for the core? How often have you not caught such a mistake?
